At Quizli, we’re firm believers that making a successful tool needs an inherent human element that connects with its users. Beyond being a user-friendly platform that is constantly improving with feedback, and getting to know teachers directly through social media and other communication channels, we think getting to know the team behind the app is vital for you to understand and enjoy Quizli even more.
This is why we’ve gathered the team to introduce ourselves, tell you a little bit more about who we are, and talk about what motivates us to make the edtech space a better place with a test-taking and learning management system (LMS) such as Quizli.
Previously working on other tech tools and industries, the team was ready to take on a task attached to an element that has impacted every one of us: Education. With Appli as the strong foundation for a new app built mostly with low-code/no-code, we started our engines and haven’t run out of fuel ever since, inspired by the community that we were once a part of and which continues to benefit society despite the many challenges it faces.
Michael, UI, UX Designer
Michael is the brain behind Quizli’s soft, endearing green shades and Huffy’s bubbly looks. He’s also making sure the app is user-friendly with easy navigation and intuitive feature design, improving it as we receive teacher feedback.
For Michael, EdTech tools are vital because they make education more accessible, personalized, and engaging. They help teachers use data to improve instruction, reduce administrative work, and reach more students efficiently. He also believes that tech in the sector builds essential digital skills and ensures learning can continue during disruptions, making education more flexible and future-ready.
- Favorite color: Green.
- Hobbies: Painting, reading, and making short films with my friends.
- Favorite Quizli feature: “My favorite Quizli feature is our theme section, where teachers can choose from a variety of backdrops to add to their quizzes. I think it’s a great way for teachers to customize and create engaging content.”
Efrain, Software Engineer
Through Appli, Efrain is one-half of Quizli’s technical heart, using every possible element in our proprietary platform to build a helpful tool for teachers, students, and school administrators. When there’s new feedback, he makes sure, alongside the team, to implement it in the best way possible to bring Quizli to new heights.
Efrain has expressed that, nowadays, educators don’t have enough resources to provide every student the attention they truly need. Edtech tools, especially AI-powered ones, can help fill these gaps to benefit both teachers and students. As such, they increase educator efficiency while providing a personalized learning experience for students.
- Favorite color: Blue.
- Hobbies: Hiking, going to concerts, playing card/board games, and Pokémon.
- Favorite Quizli feature: “Real-time guidance and feedback while taking Quizlis. It allows students to continue learning while testing their knowledge.” (At the time of posting, this feature is in the works.)
Mark, Project Manager
Mark is the mastermind behind Quizli. As Canela’s CEO and a former substitute teacher, he always dreamed of blending technology with education to maximize teachers’ potential and help them save time where they can (you can read more about this in our Founder Story blog). After conceiving Appli, he felt that he could finally see his dream materialize in the perfect use case of his low-code/no-code platform.
And he was right. Now, almost two years in the making, Quizli has made impressive progress, nearly beginning deployment to teachers’ laptops, where they can use vetted AI to create test questions, deliver them to students with a companion app, and instantly grade them and upload them to the SIS.
Mark believes that there has always been a need to support the variety of learners in a single classroom. Funding for teacher aids is mostly a thing of the past. Technology that effectively uses AI as an intermediary between students and teachers will fill the gap once filled by teacher assistants and parent volunteers. Plus, custom education plans can be established to give every student the attention they need to enhance their educational growth.
- Favorite color: Red
- Hobbies: Watching movies with family and playing video games.
- Favorite Quizli feature: “I think it’s a holistic approach. Quizli truly attempts to meet a need by relieving teachers of unnecessary labor while providing students with individualized attention across all subjects.”
Sarah, Copywriter
If you follow us on social media, you might’ve already read some of Sarah’s words. She makes sure to build a bridge between the education community and the Quizli team, doing trendspotting and applying it to social media strategies, blogs, website copy, and more. By making relatable content that connects with teachers and school admins, she ensures to spread the word about Quizli and the great benefits it can bring to schools around the US.
For Sarah, edtech has been a game-changer for almost every member of the education industry. For teachers, it has helped lessen burnout when used with a clear roadmap and unloads time-consuming tasks that bring little value to the profession. For students, it’s all about personalization that adapts to their specific needs, whether they require special education or not. For administrators, it has created a set of new data to study in order to make better decisions.
- Favorite color: Green
- Hobbies: Watching tennis, jogging, and listening to music.
- Favorite Quizli feature: “The companion AI scanning app. Not having to write down the contents that are already in a physical textbook, PDF, or image to train your AI and include in your tests? Marvelous.”
Tom, Software Engineer
Tom completes Quizli’s technical team, giving it the AI spice that makes it stand out. He’s in charge of implementing, vetting, and iterating the AI tool embedded into Quizli so teachers get the most suitable answers based on the grade level, subject, and any other specificities they need. And, because AI evolves by the day, he makes sure to keep it as updated as possible so users are getting the very best experience. Next to Efrain, he’s hard at work collaborating with Michael to make Quizli a functional and visually stunning app.
When it comes to the advantages of edtech and what makes him so passionate about this project, Tom thinks that any help that teachers can receive to maximize the education of children is positive, leaving them with more time and energy for other parts of their job.
- Favorite color: Blue
- Hobbies: Watching sports, traveling, and spending time with family.
- Favorite Quizli feature: “The AI features are pretty magical. I can see them being extremely helpful to teachers. The whole concept of continuously evaluating student progress in the Reports section can also be very helpful to the students themselves.”
